Facts are when viruses attack human; they weaken soldiers (body cells) responsible for keeping your body ready to fight against infectious intruders.

If you help your body to boost its immunity by having a balanced diet, you will have empowered it to fight viruses itself without any medication.

Therefore, let us give our body:
  • Proteins which help to repair body cells. These include beans, Gnuts, pease, milk, eggs, fish, chicken, meat etc.
  • Carbohydrates which give energy to the body to fight against infections. They include maize, cassava, potatoes, millet, sorghum, rice, yams etc.
  • Vitamins which give your body the ability to fight off infections. They include fruits and vegetables that are available in our environment such as mangoes, oranges, ovacado, pineapple, carrots, pawpaw, tomatoes etc.
  • Protective foods which are fluids especially water that helps the body cells and the skin to be healthy.
In so doing, you will have equipped your body with enough protection mechanism against the infections including CORONAVIRUS.

BASIC PROTECTIVE MEASURES AGAINST CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19)

Wash your hands frequently:
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain social distancing:
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain the virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth:
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

Practice respiratory hygiene:
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Why? Droplets spread the virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance.

Follow the directions of your local health authority:
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.

Stay informed and follow the advice given by your healthcare provider:
Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19.
Follow the advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.

Hope this will help to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 and other viruses. Read more https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

THE SOURCE OF LIFE SKILLS

There is an overused slogan- "Be Job Creators But Not Job Seekers". But have we trained young people to be job creators? Have we equipped them with skills to make jobs? Have we taught them how to earn a living?

To some extent, these are hard questions to answer and they constitute a great challenge to all of us who wish our children to be prosperous and happy. This is the challenge we must urgently respond to and Nserester Vocational Secondary School is really attempting to provide a resounding solution.

Getting quality education at whatever level is good but the education we get should equip us with skills to enable us to do something for ourselves and our communities. This is really the kind of skill Nserester Vocational Secondary School is providing. This institution prepares learners who are likely to be self-reliant in the future.

With the life skills acquired from our learning centre, young people will be able to compete in the labour market wherever they go. Our training approach is holistic and Nserester Vocational Secondary School is, therefore, the place where the learners get all-round education.

Our cities and towns are not filled with gold. However, many young people come to towns to seek gold which most of them never find. If you are equipped with requisite skills, you can excavate gold wherever you are and this is what Nserester Vocational Secondary School is emphasising.
The task of skilling is an uphill one, so it requires not only financial support but also spiritual and moral encouragement. We, therefore, invite everybody who reads this information to actively participate in the struggle to fight the common enemy by joining us.

We appeal to religious leaders, educationists, businessmen, health workers, and politicians to pay attention to us and support us in all ways possible to fight indiscipline, ignorance, poverty, diseases, and insecurity for the good of our nation. May God Bless You All.
